Description | In the Department of Visual Arts (VISA) at Brock, education takes place within the walls of well-equipped studios and teaching spaces, and outside those walls in our vibrant local arts community and beyond. We provide education in two distinct but interconnected streams: the History of Art and Visual Culture (HAVC), and Studio Art (STDA). Studio students take courses in traditional fine art media, such as painting, photography, sculpture and drawing, but also explore digital, online, performance and other non-traditional methods of art expression. HAVC courses explore history as it is connected to the present, with a focus on themes, such as the body in art and visual culture or the role of censorship from the ancient world to the present day. Courses are innovative, interdisciplinary and current. Students may earn a four-year BA Honours degree, three-year BA pass degree or a six-year BA/BEd in Concurrent Education.
