Description | The Heavy Equipment Technician program will train you to maintain, repair and overhaul heavy vehicles and industrial equipment, both towed and self-propelled. The heavy equipment industry is very diverse, and typically apprentices specialize in a certain field of repair. There are 4 streams to this apprenticeship program, each with at least 1 common period, leading to 1 or more journeyperson certifications: transport-trailer mechanic, truck and transport mechanic, heavy-duty equipment mechanic NAIT's Heavy Equipment Technician program provides technical instruction and hands-on training to prepare apprentices for all aspects of the trade, including maintenance and repair of internal combustion engines and components, both stationary and mobile tracked equipment (crawler tractors) ground engaging equipment and components (rippers, ditchers, backhoes, trenchers and similar equipment). | | |
