Description | The Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc) degrees are four-year undergraduate degrees offered jointly by the Faculty of Science and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. You are registered as a Medical Sciences student in Years 1 and 2, and apply to the BMSc Program when you enter Year 3. In the BMSc program, you will study basic medical sciences and focus on all aspects of biology that define and influence the human condition. Emphasis is placed on understanding the normal human condition, mechanisms of current treatment and the search for cures.
Medical Biophysics is an interdisciplinary field, using the principles and laws of the physics sciences to describe and investigate biological processes for the purpose of medical application. This field involves collaboration between physics, biology, and the basic medical sciences, which is essential to learn about diseases and their processes, and how to effectively diagnose and treat them.
When combined with another Major offered by one of the Basic Medical Science departments, this module leads to a Honours Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc) degree. If taken alone or combined with modules from other faculties, this program will lead to degrees such as BSc, BHSc or BA degrees.
