DescriptionStudy the earth like you've never seen it before. The Earth’s interior is responsible for the planet’s magnetic field that protects life from the Sun’s harmful radiation and plate tectonics which create ocean basins, earthquakes, volcanoes and valuable mineral resources. Yet, the interior cannot be directly observed. Geophysics at Western offers a great opportunity to study the innovative tools and theories that geophysicists use to unlock the secrets of the interior of the Earth and other planets, and prepare you for an exciting future in exploration and risk mitigation. You'll have the chance to learn geophysical techniques, including gravity, magnetic, seismic, radiometric and electromagnetic methods.

This program is designed to meet the minimum geoscience knowledge requirements for Professional Registration as a licensed geoscientist in Canada, as set by the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO) and the Canadian Council of Professional Geoscientists (CCPG).

You can complete this program as a Bachelor or an Honours Bachelor degree. Registration in the honours degree usually begins in the second year, but admission may be gained in the third or fourth year provided you meet requirements.
