Description | Environmental engineers minimize society’s impact on the environment, playing an integral role in designing a sustainable future. They develop solutions for a wide range of environmental problems including adapting to the effects of climate change, restoring polluted environments, and managing increased demand for clean water.
The International Development option introduces you to the complex societal, environmental, political and economic issues associated with building safer communities in Canada and in the developing world. A centerpiece of the International Development option is the Summer Community Development Placement and Design Project where students have an opportunity to work for four months in developing countries, or in-need communities in Canada.
As an Engineering student, you'll have the option to enroll in the "With Co-Op" version of your program and complete a minimum of 3 co-op terms to graduate with a 'Bachelor of Engineering Science with Co-Op' degree. In addition to the practical experience and competitive salary you'll gain through summer and/or long-term co-ops, your employment will count towards the four years experience you need to be licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
