Description | Often called Cyber Security, this degree in Computer Security studies the technologies and practices designed to protect networks, computers and data from attack, damage or unauthorised access. The Computer Security course will equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to understand, apply and critically evaluate the principles that underpin Computer Security. It will give students an understanding of the technical and social perspectives, how attacks work, the likely threats & vulnerabilities, and the approaches used by the attackers.
The course will provide students with the knowledge and skills to understand and design frameworks which contain the technical, physical and process controls that can be implemented across an organisation to reduce information and systems risk, identify and mitigate vulnerability, and satisfy compliance obligations. The course will also provide students with the knowledge and skills to conduct penetration testing and vulnerability analysis in business organisations; to develop secure systems and use industry standard tools and techniques. | | |
