One additional senior-level course is also required. Senior-year Mathematics, Chemistry and another approved science are required courses for admission to the B.Science program. An average of your marks in senior Math, Chemistry, and your best other science course must be at least 75%.
If you don’t meet the admission requirements for direct entry to the Bachelor of Science degree program, but offer a minimum admission average of 70%, you may be given conditional admission to the appropriate Faculty in an entrance program to the extent that capacity allows.
If you present only Chemistry, you’ll be considered at the discretion of the Faculty.
If you have high academic standing you may be considered for admission if you present any two of three grade 12 Sciences, e.g. Biology/Chemistry; Biology/Physics; Physics/ Chemistry, etc.
If you intend to enroll in MATH 1003, Introduction to Calculus I, you must take a Placement Test which will be administered during Orientation week in September. Materials to prepare for this test are available at math.unb.ca/ready as well as from the Mathematics Departments in New Brunswick High Schools and UNB.
Based on your test scores, and the regulations set out by the Mathematics Departments, you’ll need to take either a Pre-Calculus course (Math 0863 UNBF or Math 1863 UNBSJ), a special section of Math 1003 that covers the material of the course over two semesters, or a regular (one semester) section of Math 1003.
