Description:This unique 2-year program prepares you to enter the workplace with exceptional welding skills that employers are seeking. There is an identified gap in the workforce for qualified graduates needed to operate and troubleshoot robotic welding systems while having maintenance, welding and robotic programming knowledge. This program is aimed at motivated individuals looking for a challenging and rewarding career in manufacturing automation. You will earn a Welding Engineering Technician - Robotics diploma and will acquire comprehensive welding skills through hands-on practical labs, using the latest equipment. You will create and read blueprints and gain an understanding of metals and their characteristics, complemented by solid welding automation knowledge and welding robot programming. Safe work practices and practical experience in weld inspection methods are also covered. The optional co-op stream includes one co-op work term.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, or 19 years of age or older with mature student status, Grade 12 compulsory English, C or U, or equivalent, or Conestoga College Preparatory Communications (COMM1280), Grade 11 Mathematics, C, M (U/C), or U, or equivalent, OR Conestoga College Preparatory Mathematics for Trades (MATH1420)

Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) or Canadian Academic English Language Assessment

Applicants with transcripts from institutions where the language of instruction is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency with a minimum test score on one of the following language proficiency tests or equivalent scores from another internationally recognized English language test: IELTS overall band of 6 with no band less than 5.5, TOEFL iBT80, CAEL 70 with minimum 60 writing, no sub-test band score less than 30, PTE Academic 51 Conestoga English Language Test (CELT) Band 5.

Additional Admission Requirements:
    To be considered for admission to the co-op stream, students are required to achieve a minimum 65% in Level 1 and a maximum of one dropped or failed course.
