Our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) – Family Nurse Practitioner degree is designed to help you put evidence-based research into practice. Our goal is to equip you to improve patient safety and provide quality care as you learn to design effective healthcare environments. In this degree, you will complete over 600 FNP practicum hours! Our degree also meets the educational requirements needed to sit for national certification exams, which are required to obtain nurse practitioner state licensure.

Every application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and all applicants must submit the following documents and meet the minimum requirements for admission: admission application; official college transcripts showing either a BSN or MSN; a GPA of 3.0 or above in most recent nursing degree; bachelor’s-level courses in statistics, research, and health assessment. A graduate-level biostatistics course is also required as a prerequisite to NURS 832, but this course may be completed after acceptance into the program;1 year of professional nursing experience; reference contact information for 1 academic, 1 professional, and 1 personal reference (submit through provided link); Curriculum Vitae; and a Writing Sample. Applicants must also submit a copy of your American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers with AED card to admissionsdocs@liberty.edu.
Applicants are required to have a current, unencumbered RN license:
Applicant must hold RN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Please submit a copy of your license to admissionsdocs@liberty.edu. (If a past sanction or disciplinary action exists on a professional license, the applicant may be contacted by the Nursing Admissions Review Committee for further explanation.)
Applicants are not required to have an advanced practice license or certification for the Post-BSN DNP/FNP pathway. However, if an applicant is currently licensed in another advanced practice nursing specialty (i.e., Clinical Nurse Specialist), applicants must submit APRN license and certification.
