Program Information

School:University of Alberta
Faculty:Faculty of Science
Degree:Bachelor; Honours
Field of Study:Geology/Earth Science, General
Description:Examine planet Earth: the materials from which it is made, the processes that affect these materials, and the origin and evolution of life. Our Geology degree is certified by the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA) and includes a number of field placements, which give important hands-on training to supplement the knowledge taught in classrooms. Geology can also be taken as part of a BSc with Specialization degree.

The Bachelor of Science Honors degree provides excellent training in one specific subject. As an Honors student, you will focus on one main field of study and must maintain a higher standard of academic achievement than students in a General or Specialization program. This is the best program if you plan to pursue a higher degree or a research-based or academic career.
