Scholarships… Take a Bite out of Tuition

Save

The cost of higher education is on the rise. Financing a degree is a challenge for most students as pursuing a degree involves not only the cost of tuition and university fees, but also the cost of living for the years spent not working full-time. It makes sense to try and get those tuition fees down so you can allocate your money elsewhere – whether that is on parties, travel or room and board!

Good news: there’s a wealth of opportunity out there available to ambitious students through scholarships and bursaries! Do not be intimidated by the application process but do be diligent and detail oriented – it’s a numbers game. Every application you fill out increases the likelihood you will received an award.

A word of caution: before you invest time filling out applications be sure to pay attention to the eligibility requirements; postgraduate scholarships are not for undergraduates. Most scholarships are based on merit; universities will be paying close attention to your academic achievements so hopefully you have set yourself up for success.

Tips for success: when it comes to the essays be sure to highlight your passions or any extracurricular activities you have participated in. This is a great opportunity to tell your story, to tell Universities about achievements or goals you have. Distinguish yourself. Why do you deserve this scholarship? What qualifies you? How will it help you achieve your goals?

Most importantly, never count yourself out. Don’t doubt yourself. You may be pleasantly surprised by the results of your hard work. A lot can happen behind the scenes, such as a small pool of average applications. Don’t be intimidated by lofty requirements, just try to prove your worth. At the University of Gloucestershire we offer a variety of generous scholarships for international undergraduate and postgraduate students ranging from £1,000-£6,250! See what we offer here.
