Are you part of the LGBTQ+ community and want some help funding your education? Scholarships, awards, and bursaries are a great way to minimize your tuition and school costs, but finding which scholarships you’re eligible for can be time-consuming. So, to celebrate Pride Month and make your scholarship search easier, we’ve added a new category to our browse scholarships page — scholarships for LGBTQ+ students!
Scholarships for LGBTQ+ students
With over 30 scholarships available, and more being added every day, there is over $39,000 to be won! Keep in mind that different organizations may use different terms, but they all want to support students like you, regardless of your acronym of choice! Check out some of the awards that are available:
$3,500 | Deadline: August 5, 2022
The Bill 7 Award is a registered charitable trust that awards 18 scholarships to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, two-spirited, and queer students who are in financial need and studying at any post-secondary institution in Ontario to attain their first degree or diploma.

$2,500 | Deadline: January 31 of each year
The LOUD Foundation invests in future leaders of the Canadian LGBTQ+ community. We believe that by supporting the development of students that possess drive, vision, compassion, and knowledge, we can improve society and increase awareness of our diverse community. LOUD stands for Leadership, Opportunity, Unity, and Diversity.

$2,500 | Deadline: August 12, 2022
All LGBTQI2S students who are children or grandchildren (including foster children or grandchildren) or legal wards of a current or retired member of a Component, or a Component's affiliate, of the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) and are planning to enter the first year of a Canadian public, post-secondary education program, full-time, in 2022/23 are eligible to apply. The winner will be determined based on a 750-to-1,000-word essay on this year's topic: the importance of trade unions in supporting the LGBTQI2S communities.

$1,000 | Deadline: October 1, 2022
The bursary will be awarded to a University of Regina undergraduate student who meets the following criteria: enrolled in any area of study; achieved a minimum of 60% Undergraduate Grade Point Average (UGPA); completed a minimum of 23 credit hours; self-declared 2LGBTQ+; provides a statement about their own experience as a 2LGBTQ+ student; and demonstrates financial need.
