This summer, Wealthsimple, a Canadian financial services company, launched a brand-new scholarship program for students, dubbed Canada's Simplest Scholarship. The application process was easy: open an RESP with Wealthsimple, and be eligible for a $5,000 scholarship!

Congrats to Canada's Simplest Scholarship recipient Maddux

Maddux is starting his first year of post-secondary at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, one of the largest institutions in the Atlantic provinces. At Dal, Maddux will pursue a law degree, with the goal of becoming a practicing lawyer after graduation. He's also committed to playing volleyball with the Dal team, so if you're ever in Halifax, you just might spot him on the beach, spiking a ball over the net!

"Having the opportunity to go play volleyball and pursue my law degree at Dalhousie University is nothing short of a dream come true," Maddux says. But "with this opportunity came the reality of paying for tuition, travel, and meal expenses." What better time to receive a $5,000 scholarship?

"I knew I would have to put in a lot of work over the coming years," he continues. "I knew it would be well worth it if I got the opportunity to become a lawyer while playing volleyball." Here Maddux highlights the importance of pursuing the things you love!

"I was beyond excited and grateful for this opportunity, as it's taken such a large burden financially off my shoulders," Maddux says. "I am so grateful for Wealthsimple" for the scholarship opportunity. "I believe that with this scholarship, I'm a step closer in pursuing my dreams of a long and fruitful career," he concludes.
