Funding the next generation

CCU's committed to the highest standards of academic excellence and recognizes outstanding first-year and transfer students through its merit award program.

Merit awards are based on academic criteria, either in high school for first-year students, or at an accredited college or university for transfer students. You don't have to apply for each award; you'll be automatically considered for these scholarships when you apply to CCU.

Students who apply to CCU before the "priority admission deadline" will be considered first. Don't wait; historically, funding is limited for applicants who apply after published priority application dates. Fall applicants should be admitted by the priority deadlines of January 1 (for first-years) or June 1 (for transfers). Spring applicants should be admitted by November 1.

Let's look at a few of the awards available to Canadians studying at CCU:

International First-Year Awards

First-year students, called "freshmen" in the United States, are encouraged to apply for one of these merit scholarships. The best part? They're renewable, so if you keep your grades up, you'll continue to receive funding as you progress through your degree.

Presidential Scholarship

Value: $17,988 per year
Priority admission deadline: January 1 or November 1
Grades required: US equivalent of an "A" average High School GPA (approximately 80%+)

President's Scholar Award

Value: $13,000 per year
Priority admission deadline: January 1 or November 1
Grades required: US equivalent of a "B+" average High School GPA (approximately 75%+)

Provost's Scholar Award

Value: $10,000 per year
Priority admission deadline: March 1 or November 1
Grades required: US equivalent of a "B+" average High School GPA (approximately 75%+)

International Transfer Awards

To become a transfer student, you need to be enrolled in an accredited college or university, then officially transfer to CCU. You'll pick up your degree from where you left off, and be eligible for scholarships for transfer students, like these:

Transfer Scholar Level I Award

Value: $10,000 per year
Priority admission deadline: June 1 or November 1
Grades required: GPA of 3.5 - 4.0 (approximately 80% to 100%)

Transfer Scholar Level II Award

Value: $7,500 per year
Priority admission deadline: June 1 or November 1
Grades required: GPA of 3.25 - 3.49 (approximately 75% to 79%)

Transfer Scholar Level III Award

Value: $4,500 per year
Priority admission deadline: June 1 or November 1
Grades required: GPA of 2.9 - 3.24 (approximately 70% to 74%)
