Did you know that, globally, only 22.2% of bachelor's degrees in engineering are held by women? There's a gender gap in the STEM workforce, and MPOWER Financing wants to help level the playing field. That's why the MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship was created, so women can fund the STEM program of their dreams. This scholarship is meant for women who will use their STEM degree to benefit our world and who have the potential to serve as role models and advocates for other women in STEM.

Women in STEM Scholarship details

The Women in STEM Scholarship provides one scholarship for each of the three award levels:

• Grand Prize: $6,000
• Runner-Up: $2,000
• Honourable Mention: $1,000

This means you have three chances to win some money for your education! The deadline to apply for the scholarship is January 15, 2023.

Am I eligible?

If you're a woman currently in, or about to enter a full-time STEM program as an international student in either the U.S. or Canada, you can apply to win up to US $6,000! To be eligible, you must:

• Be accepted to, or enrolled in a full-time STEM degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school that MPOWER supports
• Be an international student allowed to legally study in the U.S. or Canada

This scholarship was created specifically for international and DACA students. If you're a U.S. citizen who wants to study in the U.S. or a Canadian citizen hoping to study in Canada, you aren't eligible for this scholarship.

How do I apply?

MPOWER's application process is simple! to reduce your stress of applying to scholarships.

Step 1: Review our application

Visit MPOWER's Women in STEM Scholarship webpage to view the application process.

Step 2: Respond to our essay question

In 500 words or less, write a short essay about your accomplishments in STEM, your future career goals, and how your education will help you achieve them.

Step 3: Prepare your resumé

MPOWER wants to get a better sense of who you are. Include your resumé describing your record of professional or academic distinction. Or, if you don't have a resumé, provide a list of extracurricular activities you've participated in during your college/graduate degree experience. Be sure to include any leadership positions you've held, as well as any honours or awards you've received.

Step 4: Proofread and submit

Look over your application to ensure the information is accurate and free of spelling and grammar mistakes. Once you've read it over and confirmed everything is great, hit "Submit" for your chance to win!
