Western University: President's Entrance Scholarships for Black Students

$50,000 | Deadline: February 14, 2024

Western University offers national scholarships, designed to recognize all-round excellence. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic performance to candidates who demonstrate ability for creative and innovative thought and a passion for the pursuit of learning.

National Scholarships also recognize exceptional achievement in extracurricular activities such as the arts and athletics. A special emphasis is placed on a candidate's commitment to community service through ongoing contributions to school and community life.

Canadian Institute of Planners Diversity Impact Bursary

$5,000 | Deadline: February 16, 2024

Created to specifically support Black students and students of colour, this undergraduate and graduate bursary addresses the issue of under-representation in the planning profession.

It reflects the priorities of CIP-PSTF and CIP in furthering Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and removing financial barriers to the profession.

University of Calgary: Roy Oliver Lindseth Undergraduate Award in Diversity

$2,000 | Deadline March 1, 2024

Offered annually to an undergraduate student entering first year at the University of Calgary's Faculty of Science, majoring in Geology or Geophysics.

Created in memory of Roy Oliver Lindseth, a scientific visionary and geophysical giant. He enjoyed mentoring students at the University of Calgary and developing geophysicists across many cultures. His legacy of generosity lives on through this award.

University of Victoria: UVSS BIPOC Public Interest Reseach Award

At least $1,000 | Deadline: April 30, 2024

At the University of Victoria, one or more awards of at least $1,000 each, are given to continuing or transferring undergraduate students with demonstrated research-based contributions to community programs or agencies that address social justice and/or environmental issues.

Students must submit a summary (maximum 500 words) of their research project that contributes to community programs and provide one letter of reference (maximum 300 words) that speaks to this.

UVSS BIPOC Public Interest Research Award

Canadian Caribbean Association of Waterloo Region Scholarships

$1,500 | Deadline: July 15, 2024

The Caribbean Canadian Association of Waterloo Region "CCAWR" Scholarship is awarded to Caribbean-Canadian students residing in the Waterloo region wishing to attend College/ University or a Post-Secondary Institution in Canada to promote academic excellence, foster Leadership skills and encourage community involvement among our youth.

CBTU: Ann Newman Scholarship

$1,000 | Deadline: The last Friday in October each year (October 25, 2024)

The Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) Ontario Canada Chapter is pleased to call for applications for its annual Ann Newman Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship is awarded in honour of Ann Newman, who was a labour and community activist and a former member of the Communication, Energy and Paperworkers Union. Any student who has graduated or will be graduating from High School or an equivalent program, and who will be or is attending a Canadian recognized post-secondary institution such as a college, trade school or university, and is a member, child, grandchild, or family member of a CBTU member in good standing, or a youth in the Black community, is eligible to apply.

CBTU: Young Women's Post-Secondary Scholarship

$500 | Deadline: The last Friday in October each year (October 25, 2024)

The Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, Ontario, Canada Chapter, is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for the Young Women's Post-Secondary Scholarship. The purpose of the award is to acknowledge and recognize the community activism of a young Black women who has been accepted academically to a post-secondary institution.
