Scholarships and Financial Aid
There are many scholarship and bursary opportunities available to you while completing your graduate work at the University of Manitoba. Some of our scholarships include:

Sir Gordon Wu Graduate Student Scholarships
For graduate students who are entering the first year of a research-based Ph.D. program, these scholarships are awarded annually, in competition, to students who have demonstrated intellectual ability and academic accomplishments. Each scholarship has a maximum value of $40,000. Recipients are chosen by a selection committee, there is no application process.

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships Program
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program attracts and retains world-class doctoral students. The awards provides $50,000 per year for three years, and is open to both Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada and foreign students pursuing a doctoral degree at eligible Canadian universities.

UMGF
The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship is the largest internal scholarship awarded to Master’s and PhD students at U of M. Applicants require a minimum GPA of 3.75 (above B+) at a recognized university based on a Bachelor, Master’s, Graduate Diploma or a Doctoral degree. All students regardless of citizenship are eligible to apply. Students are eligible to receive the UMGF for the first 24 months of their Master’s program and the first 48 months of their PhD program. Total maximum UMGF support for any individual graduate student is 48 months. Value is PhD – $18,000, Master’s – $14,000.
