Why You CAN Afford to Study Abroad

Save

Money is the biggest factor that prevents people embarking on the study abroad adventure of their lives. It is a common misconception that only people whose parents financially support them can afford to study abroad. Here are some reasons why money may be less of a problem than you are expecting!

Study for Free

While student debt in Canada is increasingly soaring, other countries are lowering their tuition fees to more affordable rates, making studying abroad more financially viable than ever. For example, Germany has recently introduced free education for Canadian students, and other countries, such as South Korea, alongside some US states have grants and agreements in place to ensure that tuition remains affordable for Canadian students.

Scholarships

On a similar note, there are plenty of scholarships available to Canadians wanting to study abroad. With a well-written application, you might be able to get your study abroad trip fully or partially funded.

Cost of Living

The cost of living in Canada is high, in comparison to other countries such as the USA, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Malaysia, alongside many others. With less money being spent on rent and groceries each month, your expenses will be significantly less daunting!

Return on Your Investment

It is easy to get caught up in what you are spending right now. However, study abroad alumni find jobs faster than their peers, and their starting salaries are 25% higher. With this in mind, even if you do end up spending a little extra on studying abroad, the potential financial benefits outweigh this.
